Bed bugs love to hide, so it’s important to get rid of clutter. Before treatment begins, rooms must be properly prepped. All items should be removed from the floor and furniture must be moved 18 inches away from the wall.
• Wipe off dead bugs, blood stains, eggs, and droppings with hot soapy water.
• Wash all items showing bed bug stains in hot water (140°F) and dry on the highest setting for at least 20 minutes.
• Remove all bed linens and curtains, transport them in plastic bags, and launder them in the hottest wash and dry cycles. Cover mattresses and box springs with bed bug covers for at least a full year before putting clean linens back on the beds. Periodically check for rips or openings.
• Remove clothing from closet floors and any open area, transport them in tightly sealed plastic bags, and wash them in the hottest wash and dry cycles.
• Do not bring bed linens, curtains, or clothing back into the room until treatment is complete.
• Empty contents from all dressers, closets, nightstands, shelves, and entertainment centers, and remove loose items, including shoes, toys, books, knick-knacks, etc. Place all items in tightly sealed plastic bags or totes with lids during treatment. Before unpacking items, be sure to thoroughly inspect for insects.
• Clean and wash all floors.
• Vacuum carpets, floors, bed frames, furniture, cracks, and crevices daily, using the brush and crevice tools. Empty vacuum bags and cans and remove contents from your home.
• All members of your household, including pets should stay of the house for four hours to allow enough time for the chemicals to dry.
